Personal Hygiene sebagai Faktor yang Berhubungan dengan Kejadian Scabies pada Penghuni Rusunawa Kota Kediri

Scabies is a contagious skin disease that remains a public health concern, particularly in residential environments characterized by high levels of social interaction, such as low-cost rental apartments (Rusunawa). One factor suspected to contribute to the occurrence of scabies is personal hygiene. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between personal hygiene and the occurrence of scabies among residents of Rusunawa in Kediri City. The study employed a cross-sectional design with an observational analytic approach. The study population consisted of 476 residents of Rusunawa in Kediri City, with a sample of 83 respondents selected using a simple random sampling technique. Data on personal hygiene were collected using a questionnaire that had been used in previous research, while data on scabies occurrence were obtained through an observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Chi-Square test at a 5% significance level (α = 0.05). The results showed that the majority of respondents had good personal hygiene (81.9%), while scabies was found in a small proportion of respondents. The Chi-Square test indicated a significant relationship between personal hygiene and scabies occurrence (p = 0.001). Respondents with poor personal hygiene tended to have a higher likelihood of experiencing scabies than those with good personal hygiene. It can be concluded that personal hygiene is associated with the occurrence of scabies among Rusunawa residents in Kediri City. Improving personal hygiene practices through health education is expected to support scabies prevention in the Rusunawa environment.
