Virginia tobacco is the largest agro-industry component in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The lack of subsidized kerosene quotas for tobacco extraction, even the central government decided that in 2018 the sub-oil kerosene quota will be abolished, brings its own problems. Based on this problem, research was carried out with the title how to characterize castor beans as an alternative fuel to replace kerosene as a substitute for tobacco extraction fuel with the aim of proving that castor beans can be used as an alternative fuel for drying tobacco. process without reducing the quality and economy of tobacco. This research was carried out experimentally. From the research results it can be concluded that castor bean fuel can be used as a fuel substitute for kerosene for tobacco production as proven by the results of the characteristic test, namely the calorific value produced in this research has met the national standard (SNI), namely 5288.844 cal/gr based on the standard. which meets American standards, namely 4000-6500 (Source: Hendra, 1999 in Sunyata and Wulur, 2008). economic value aspect of fuel consumption / 1 kg of dry castor beans consumes 6.7 kg of castor beans at a price of Rp. 6,700 lower than kerosene, LPG and bioethanol. Variable standard drying temperature with a drying rate of 1 m/s produces tobacco compost with the best quality color and aroma.
Ahmad Multazam Khairul Rizal Copyright (c) 2024 Ahmad Multazam, Khairul Rizal https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-04-30 2024-04-30 3 2 127 134 10.55681/saintekes.v3i2.320 Kajian Sintesis Asam Lemak Hidroksamat Menggunakan Minyak Goreng Bekas https://ejournal.itka.ac.id/index.php/saintekes/article/view/326
Fatty Hydroxamic Acids (FHA) has been successfully synthesized from used cooking oil. The purpose of this research was the enzymatic synthesis of fatty hydroxamic acids from used cooking oil and determine the optimum conditions, which includes three stages of processing, namely the oil preparation stage, the synthesis optimization stage and the characterization stage. At the oil preparation stage, the yield of used cooking oil was 29%. At the optimization stage, the optimum conditions for the synthesis of fatty hydroxamic acids from used cooking oil were at a temperature of 35oC for 25 hours with a ratio of lipase (gram) : hydroxylamine (mmol) equal to 1:500 and the ratio of lipase (gram) : crude bran rice (gram) was equal to 1:75. The number of hydroxamic acid groups in 1 gram of dry sample of fatty hydroxamic acid was 3,16 mmol. Based on the results of the analysis of the color test with Cu (II) and Fe (III), a complex color that is typical for the two metals which obtained with fatty hydroxamic acids, they were green and dark red. Whereas, from the FTIR analysis, the spectrum of the functional groups of hydroxamic acid was obtained.
Muhsinun Muhsinun Copyright (c) 2024 Muhsinun https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-04-30 2024-04-30 3 2 135 141 10.55681/saintekes.v3i2.326 Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Bengkuang (Pachyrhizus Erosus) sebagai Antioksidan terhadap Kadar Kolesteroltinggi pada Mencit (Mus Musculus) https://ejournal.itka.ac.id/index.php/saintekes/article/view/327
High cholesterol levels in the blood are a serious problem because they are a risk factor for various non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke and diabetes mellitus. Empirically, the secondary metabolic contents of jicama such as saponins& flavonoids have their respective properties. Saponin functions to bind cholesterol with bile acids so that it can reduce cholesterol levels. The results of the antioxidant activity test, the IC50 value of jicama extract is 115.20 mg/mL, which indicates that the antioxidant activity of jicama extract is classified as a moderate antioxidant. The results of measuring cholesterol levels after treatment showed that there was a decrease in cholesterol levels after giving jicama extract treatment in each group, seen in treatment 1 (P1) at 113.4 with a difference of 2.6 from cholesterol before administration, treatment 2 (P2) at 110.8 with a difference of 4.6 of cholesterol before administration, treatment 3 (P3) was 110.6 with a difference of 7.6 from cholesterol before administration of jicama extract, positive control (K+) was 108.4 with a difference of 30.2 from cholesterol before administration, negative control (K-) was 122.6 with a difference of 0.2 antioxidants from purple cabbage, namely 115.20 μg/mL. The antioxidant activity of purple cabbage is in the very strong category and vitamin C is in the very strong category.
Roushandy Asri Fardani Ika Nurfajri Mentari Eka Fitria Copyright (c) 2024 Roushandy Asri Fardani, Ika Nurfajri Mentari, Eka Fitria https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-04-30 2024-04-30 3 2 142 146 10.55681/saintekes.v3i2.327
