MENGUATKAN KETAHANAN PANGAN MELALUI PANGAN LOKAL : STUDI KASUS DI KECAMATAN SURALAGA, LOMBOK TIMUR

Food security is a crucial global issue, especially in developing countries like Indonesia, which still rely on rice as a staple food. This dependence makes communities vulnerable to fluctuations in rice production and distribution. East Lombok, a region in West Nusa Tenggara, boasts a diverse range of local food crops, including corn, cassava, sweet potatoes, peanuts, mung beans, and various local vegetables and fruits. This study aims to analyze the role of local food crop diversification in improving household food security in East Lombok. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach using literature studies, field observations, and limited community interviews. The results indicate that local food diversification can increase food availability, strengthen family nutrition, and reduce household vulnerability to food crises. The main obstacles to implementing this strategy are low public interest in non-rice food consumption and limited market access.
